This short little loop has all the things that make a great gravel ride in a compact package. It is a great recovery ride after an aggressive epic, or the perfect stand-alone family outing for children who are old enough to ride on low-traffic roads but young enough to find enough adventure in 5 miles.

Berlin Pond

Park in the parking area at the corner of Brookfield Road and Paine Turnpike (Note: the boat launch lot is reserved for boaters and anglers), and head west on Brookfield Road, keeping the pond on your left. Head up a short but punchy climb, and bear left at the top. After another short climb you hit the longest and last climb of the day, but the gentle grade and perfect views of historic farmhouses and the pond to the East mean you will hardly notice the effort. After just 1.7 miles you have reached your peak elevation and your climbing is done.
